Description

They serve both the life and non-life insurance markets and have the ambition to be one of Europe's premium insurance partners. The Underwriter is responsible for maintenance, account retention and cross selling across their assigned portfolio in accordance with the underwriting guidelines.

One of your core duties will be to establish who receives a policy, determine the appropriate premium, and write policies that cover this risk. You will also be involved in custom policy construction, loss control needs and pricing. It will also fall into your remit to develop profitable relationships amongst insurance partners, brokers, introducer's and key financial service entities and handle any technical enquiries they might present to you.

On a daily basis you will be asked to maintain the underwriting administration - both the process and systems, checking new applications and related tasks. As Underwriter ultimate responsibility for your the identification and calculation of the risk of loss from policyholders, setting of premiums and over all profitability of your client portfolio is yours.

To be considered it is expected that you will have at least two years underwriting experience, ideally within the commercial claims sector underwriting, plus you will need a good all round knowledge of the insurance market. You should be comfortable in drafting insurance documentation - policy wordings and schedules, service agreements, claims handling agreements, reinsurance policies. It is expected you will hold the ACII or similar, or at least be working towards it. On occasions you will be required to present to the board, thus, it is essential you have first rate written and oral communications skills.
